Art Therapy as we understand it, can integrate different approaches within the Arts. The psychotherapeutic process in Art Therapy acts:
- Facilitating communication / Intra and Interpersonal relationship through artistic expression;
- Allowing emotional creative expression through verbal and non-verbal metaphors in a safe and protective environment;
- Promoting personal development and knowledge;
- Developing the ability to think.
It assumes a specific theoretical body in which creativity is central.
SPAT has its own conceptualization: The Polymorphic Model. Such presupposes 4 modes of intervention in Art Therapy:
• Psycho-Educational
• Experiential
• Integrative
• Analytical
